Connecting the Dots From OT to Jesus.

Hi ladies,

This is the first blog of the new year and I'm excited to be able to bring you my point of view on "Connecting the Dots".  First up, is the review of the last class.  Thank you Cathy for this little glimpse, this dot to dot Revelation. I got goose bumps as Cathy talked about Jesus and how His comings, His goings and His doings connected to Jewish history and the Old Testament.  Jesus rose from the dead as the first fruit and we will eventually rise to join Him.

Jesus was crucified on Passover, connecting the dots, He is our passover.  God's wrath will pass over us at judgement, just as the angel of death passed over those who had the blood on their door posts in the Old Testament.  Our inheritance is so rich in history and connections.
I don't think we will fully understand it all until we kneel before the throne of our Lord and Savior.  But for now, we don't want to miss the glory.  Here is the Link to Gordon Mote's video:
DON'T LET ME MISS THE GLORY!

Thank you ladies for all the kudos you have given to me for my hard work.  I want you to know that every one of you were prayed for as I made your name tag, table tag and your notebook.  It was a labor of love and God richly blessed me as I served you.  An opportunity is coming  up in a few weeks for a few of you to help me finish up the magnet dots.  After class on March 8th I will have the supplies to make the rest of the magnets for the season.  No talent required, if you can follow instructions you can help.  More info to come next week in class.

Some of you have asked me questions about our teacher, Cathy.  Who is she?  What is her history?  How did she come to be so knowledgeable?  I coaxed her into giving me a little birds eye synopsis of her testimony.
It all started in a sewer!!
IT ALL STARTED IN A SEWER??  Oy Vay!

Cathy at 17 Years Old.
I was born in the Bronx - into a Gentile home – but nearly went home from the hospital with a Jewish couple (another story)! At age five I fell down a sewer! Don’t you love God’s sense of humor? I began asking questions about God! At age seven I dreamed about missionary work – but I wasn’t a believer! I was however "religious". When I heard the Gospel for the first time at age 17, I received the Lord then immediately applied to a Bible college in NJ. Following graduation from Bible college, my husband, Bob, and I trekked out to New Mexico and served as missionaries among the Navajo and Hopi Indians. A ministry to Mormons was next on God’s agenda for me – in Phoenix. Then – drama. As I portrayed Jewish characters in various sketches, God burdened me for His people. "You can’t tell me you’re not Jewish!"  I heard this so many times! But I’m not – Jewish, that is. I love the Jewish people and pray that they come to faith in Jesus. In 1992, or thereabouts, the Jewish ministry at Scottsdale Bible was born. For seven years I functioned as a volunteer with Chosen People until I joined their staff as a missionary in 1999.

The journey continues – and it’s exciting.
The focus through Chosen People is to share Jesus with Jewish people and to equip believers to do the same. We also educate believers – from the Scripture – as to why this is God’s plan. Multiple classes, services, and outreaches are offered through Scottsdale Bible and through other churches in the Phoenix metropolitan area. Please check out our local Web site: http://www.jewishrootsofchristianity.org/

In the coming weeks , the Blog will feature PETS ON PARADE!  If you want your pet featured send your pictures and bio to connectingdots@ymail.com.  We can learn a lot about each through our pets.

Our first pet bio is from Karen Campbell:

On December 26th, 2009 I found my kitty as a rescue at the Humane Society. I was looking at the dark colored cats because I didn't want to deal with the hair of a light colored cat. I looked at a few different cats, then the lady brought Tippy into the room, I patted my lap, he jumped right up on me and seemed quite friendly. He is a "polydactyly" or "Hemingway cat" and has 6 toes on both front paws. He has a white spot on the tip of his nose and the name "Tippy" came immediately to me. From that first day he has always responded to his name like it was made for him.

When we arrived home I let him out of the carrier he tore through the house, under the furniture, over the furniture several times like a madman. "WHAT did I do? I thought. This cat is a maniac!! I must have been out of my mind!

Over the next few weeks Tippy slowly calmed down and became the sweetest, smartest cat I've ever known. He understands almost everything I say. When I take out the trash on the 2nd trip he'll charge out of the bushes at me because he wants to play and we will chase each other. If he wants Cool Whip (he loves it) he will cry by the refrigerator. If he wants to eat and I'm in the middle of something, I will say "just a minute and I'll feed you" he will go and lay by his bowl until I feed him.

He is so adorable and such a
blessing in my life.

Polly Reeder

Please pray for Polly Reeder, she is having surgery on Monday 2/28.  Pray for a quick recovery and for peace.

Don't forget to post your magnets on your fridge,
read your notes and pray for one another.   If you want to post a comment just chose your server, enter your email address, click Post Comment.  Thank you all, Meribeth

Blogger Goes Bonkers Getting to Kathy's Coffee!

                                Blogger's Coffee Adventure!
My morning started briskly: I was up and about early on this Tuesday morning, as usual, but I didn't need to be to the coffee at Kathy Schell's till 9:30. No Stress, RIGHT? I made the bed, fed the dog, took my meds, checked my email. Took my shower as usual and I was all dressed and ready to go by 8:30 AM. Then I decided to wear this wonderful drapey thing that goes over your blouse or shirt. It hangs down to my knees on both sides and looks amazing. Okay, mirror check, (looking good), then I decide maybe I need some Static Guard, just so my blouse doesn't stick to my skin or pants or the drapey thing. Go to the laundry room; spray on the static guard .....Then I notice that one of my socks is down around my ankle, gotta change my socks! Head to the bedroom change my socks, then I notice I'm cold, I need a jacket. None of the  jackets I try on (maybe 5), go well with this drapey thing that is hanging down around my knees looking wonderful, so I head to my coat closet. Going through my coat closet is like going through a Dumpster the hour before it gets emptied by the big truck. But eventually, I find something that almost covers the drapey thing, that is now, irritatingly, hanging down around my knees. By the way, now it is 6 minutes after 9 and I am starting to feel a little rushed. I hate being late! So I jump in the car with Kathy's instructions feeling quite confident with my GPS system and Kathy's phone number as a back up. I know right where Pima and Legacy connect so I head off to find Pima. I get to the Pima, Legacy Crossroads and continue to drive looking everywhere for Tom's Thumb!! Where the heck is it? I whip out my trusty GPS and plug in the address: "no matching address found", "WHAT"? I do it again; same thing........Oh well, I'll just call Kathy. Whip my phone out; punch in the phone number and a gentleman answers. Hi, I say, is this Kathy's husband? ..........NO!...........Is this Kathy Schells house? .........NO!..........Do you know how to get to Tom's Thumb Road?..............NO!............Well, thank you, ..."you're welcome"...I hang up, WHAT NOW? Yikes, I'm starting to feel desperate, it is 9:35, I'm late, I have a brain storm, I'll call Cathy Wilson, whip my phone back out, punch in her number, the phone just rings.......and rings...........and rings........I leave a message... Then I notice two guys in SUV's with their back hatch's open, I pull in next to them and ask them if they know where Tom's Thumb Road is?, They look at each other and agree it is in the area but they don't know exactly where. They are so gracious, they are trying to help me and decide to have a dual to see who can find the address first, one is on his cell phone he tries to find it with an APP, the other has an old fashioned map........The latter is the winner. And so am I! He shows me how to go to get there and I am so grateful ..... I finally make it to Kathy's house about 15 minutes late. Whew, it was a rough beginning but it was well worth it.

Kathy's amazing house
with an amazing front door
greeted me and everything
was decorated for Christmas.

As I entered Kathy's
home the ladies were in
the kitchen just chatting and enjoying the ambiance that Kathy had created just
for them. The food was wonderful, including
the lemon curd, scones
and other treats.

Eventually we all ended up around the big dining table
and we had loads of fun
and laughter. I have to say it was a rough start but a wonderful, grand ending.

My drapey thing got some comments and compliments, which made my hunt for the coat well worth it. I left Kathy's feeling closer to the ladies in the class which to me is the benefit and bonus of doing what I had to do to get to her house....

Thank you Kathy for such an amazing time. I need these connections to keep me grounded. Thank all of you ladies who made the trek to Kathy's, no matter how your morning went, you were there.

It reminds me of how good it is to celebrate the Christmas Season. Honoring Jesus and His undying love for us.  I want to remember to love the unlovable and to share my gifts
with the less fortunate.

May this Christmas fill
your home with Joy,
your heart with love and
your life with laughter.

Blogger Amazed at Last Prophecy Class of the Season....

The last class was last but not least...It was a fun class wasn't it?  We had music, fun and games with presents thrown in.  We even had a moment for a fast paced race through the Nativity via Cathy.  Loved that part!!

First and foremost was Kathy Schell on her keyboard which she schlepped all the way up the elevator, it hardly fit, then around the building and into the room.  She also had her tote bag with her bible, music, purse, and some other pieces of luggage dripping off  her as she humphed her way into the room.  Kathy, you are amazing, you did all that just for the ladies and three songs.  What a woman!  We loved it, appreciated it and are looking forward to maybe a little more of it next Tuesday at your house, 9:30 AM.  Directions to come via email.
______________________________________________________________________________
Then we had all that food, which was enough for three classes, even though we ran out of coffee, it was still marvelous.  Thank each of you who got up early, stayed up late, ran to the market, (or Chompie's), and maybe even remembered to thaw something out just to bring it for sharing.  I know, we don't need it, but it s part of the grace we give each other.  So thank each of you.

I do think Cathy was overwhelmed with all your gifts and the basket
that was put together by the funds
and finds you donated.  She works so hard, dedicates so much time and energy; I know she loves every moment of it but it blesses us and
we are thankful for the whole experience.  Thanks again Cathy,
you are a treasure.

So ladies, if I don't see you next Tuesday at Kathy Schell's, then Happy Thanksgiving, Merry Christmas and see you next Spring for another installment of PROPHECY, taught by Cathy Wilson.

Blessings, Meribeth

Epicenter Explained

Wow, wasn't it great to hear Cathy's information
 on the Epicenter.
It was so revealing.  I am glad she studies and brings her jewels of truth to class. God has a plan and I like it that all the bad stuff will happen in Jerusalem and it will happen because God isn't finished with the Jews yet.    It does make me curious as to what is going to happen to the Christians and the United States, we aren't mentioned in these prophecies....or if we are we don't recognize ourselves.  Another blip on the screen of the Bible.  We know we will be raptured, that is enough for me.  I agree with Cathy, (after hearing her verses and reasoning), that we will go before all H-E double toothpicks breaks out on the planet.  I think we will be able to see it from the heavens, not sure we'll want to.....

Now for the fun stuff...
NEXT WEEK

The plan according to me.
1. Meet in the class room E203 at 9 AM.
2. Bring a little snack to share.
3. Bring your little paper with what you are thankful for.  Be specific, use your words.  Like, don't say, I'm thankful for my husband.  If you are thankful for your husband, say, "I am thankful for my husband because he does all the cooking and grocery shopping". See the difference?  Be Specific.  There is a reason.
4. Cathy will have a lesson.
 A few parting jewels.
5.  CELEBRATION OF OUR GREAT TEACHER!  Shhhh!  If you have A GIFT to bring her, wrap it up like Christmas if you can.  I will have a tree with gifts for her and our donations to a great teacher.

6. Leave for the Rally in the High School Room at 10:30.

I can't believe our time is over.  I am sure that Cathy has some great plans for the Spring.  Thank you for letting me serve you and for smiling at me every time our eyes meet.  It means a lot, Meribeth

Special thanks and hugs to Kathy Schell for leading us in our singing time and for her side-kick Laura who always adds a touch of fun.
Special thanks to GeGe our Goodie Gal, it's harder than it looks.
Special thanks to Patti for always helping me clean up.
Special thanks to Anita for making sure the air-conditioning is working.
Special thanks to Chloe and Patti for the Grace Bag filling.
Special thanks to all of you as you ask questions and give great responses as it encourages me and challenges me.

Blogger Blown Away by Tuesday's Gathering

What a Tuesday!  Yes, we missed Cathy, but our prayer time, "Epicenter", Starbucks and the "Exotic Jewelry" were all sights to behold.

The video "Epicenter" really gave me a scare.  I am just thankful that my God is in control and He knows where and when all things will culminate.  I hope you all take some time and read up on all these things.  I love books, I collect them like mad.  I always think I'll get one read before this or that but this or that comes and the book remains unopened.  I'm just glad it looks marvelous on my bed stand or coffee table.  I appreciate Kathy Schell and her passion for reading.  Follow her example not mine.  Or take the middle road and read the dust jacket or a few chapter's in the middle.  "Chuckle".
Next week we will have our teacher back.  Hey Cathy, we missed you!!  Wait till you see what I got.  Well, here is a picture.  Sheila was so wonderful.  Her desire to love the unloved is truly a spiritual gift.  Can you imagine going to Africa two to four times a year to distribute hundreds of wheelchairs to grossly handicapped men, women and children?  Well, Sheila and her husband Bob, do just that.  Sometimes their trips last 6 weeks.  Now Sheila is bringing back this gorgeous jewelry to help support Salome and her family.  Handicapped Salome has been able to send her son to a good school because of the sales. Thank all of you ladies who helped with the purchase of one or more precious jewelry items.  God will bless you as you wear your item or as you give the item as a gift to someone special.

Kathy Schell

Thank you sweet Kathy for such a wonderful leading in prayer and for monitoring the video. Kathy loves this in depth look at the scriptures.  She is an ardent follower and supporter of Cathy Wilson's thorough teaching.  Kathy loves READING!  Scrapbooking is also a passion of Kathy's.  If she could go anywhere in the world she would love to go to Australia.  Kathy has an active prayer life and God always meets her in prayer.  She would like to be stronger in faith and prays that God will help her unbelief in the million ways she doubts.  We all can echo that prayer.

Rachel Yanousky

Thank you Rachel for bringing goodies today and for sharing your hurts with the class.  Keep Rachel in your prayers. Rachel would like to understand where today's world is in relation to Bible prophecy.  The video we watched today sure brought it home.  Spending a summer in Scotland is a dream of Rachel's but even closer to her heart is making friends right here in Scottsdale.  Her home was in San Diego and she moved here for a new beginning. God helped her get through the hardest time in her life when she was widowed young with two small daughters. Her desire is to listen to God and not be afraid of the future.

Jan Nelson

Although prophecy is confusing and overwhelming, Jan appreciates Cathy who helps to explain it all.  Jan's Mom (96) fills a good deal of Jan's time but she loves to read and travel. Her favorite destinations are the seaside and the mountains. Always having God in her life is her dream.  She wants to be a good example of God's grace for her family and friends.  She prays God will give her the desire to learn and grow and  live a life pleasing to Him.  She is fairly new to Bible Study as she has worked most of her life.

Prophecy Blogger makes prediction about Nov. 2.

I see some great things in our Future!!

This coming Tuesday, November 2, we are celebrating the beginning of the Holiday season with some special coffee from Starbucks.  Starbucks has been at SBC for quite a few years now, you can enjoy a cup or a fancy specialty drink every Sunday of the year if you choose.  But this Tuesday, our very own Starbucks barrista, Jana, will be in front of the Sanctuary, the east entrance, waiting for your order.  She will be taking orders from 8:45 to 9:30, Jana will have your coffee ready for you to pick up before you come to class.
It doesn't get any better than that!  Wait a minute, yes it does.

We also have a jewelry show on the same day.  AFRICAN Jewelry from Ghana.  Sheila Downey, missionary with Joni and Friends, "Wheels for the World" is bringing some gorgeous necklaces, earrings, bracelets and maybe even some purses she has gathered from her travels to Africa.  These items have been made by the African women she meets and shares with, often they have handicaps or family with handicaps and they make their living with the sale of this beautiful often exotic jewelry.  Sheila will give us more information when she comes.  There will be lots of treasure to chose from and these gorgeous pieces will make welcome gifts at Christmas.  They will also be great additions to any collection.  Cash or Check will do the trick.  I'm getting so excited!!

I really loved Cathy's approach this last Tuesday.  She revealed the differences between the Christian's Bema seat and the non-Christian's White Throne Judgment.  I was glad she took some time to review my question and I hope you got the result of her study by email.  If not, let me know, and I'll send it to you.  Thank you Cathy for taking the time to be thorough.  You will definitely be receiving a crown for your faithfulness.

Polly Reeder took "UNDERSTANDING BIBLE PROPHECY" because she wanted to learn and understand more about Prophecy. Polly volunteers at Shea Hospital in her spare time.  She likes to play bridge with old friends.  She has four wonderful children and nine grandchildren.  Being very close with her family means they spend as much time together as possible.  Are you ready to take a tour of Italy, or a cruise of the world, or do you have plans on seeing Hawaii? Polly would love to tag along.  Polly has some hard things in her life right now so when she comes to mind please pray God's help and guidance into her life.

Daniel's 70 Week Prophecy..Oh My!

Daniel 9 is definitely Epic.
Prophecy with Pin Point accuracy and one giant Gap after that.
Cathy Reiterates:
1.  The THEME of the Bible: THE GLORY OF GOD
2.  The UNIFYING PRINCIPLE of the Bible: GOD'S CHARACTER
3.  The BIBLICAL FOUNDATION for prophecy: RESTORATION
Leaping into Daniel 9 was like wading into a black pool that appeared to be a few feet deep.  Once wading into the pool, however, you realize the pool is bottomless.  No matter how deep you go the mystery of that deep black pool becomes more and more mystical, spiritual and beyond man's scope of complete understanding.  Yes, we have some insights provided by Gabriel.

Gabriel reveals some of the black pool's mystery's to Daniel, Israel's future becomes certain. The Revelation is sealed and full understanding is awaiting God's timing. Thank you Cathy for taking us on the journey of Daniel 9's Revelation.  Thank you for defining and giving us understanding of the 70 weeks. Although things are still a little murky in that black pool, light is shimmering in the deep.  More understanding of God's plan has been revealed can't wait till next week.  Don't forget to read the notes, they are so helpful.  Thank you Cathy for all your hard work.

GETTING TO KNOW YOU!
Recognize this little sweetheart?  Yep, it is our great teacher Cathy Wilson.  She is a Missionary with Chosen People Ministry.  She is also a teacher at Scottsdale Bible Church on Sunday Mornings for the Enrichment class Jewish Roots.  You will find her all over town, all over the state and all over the country giving lectures, doing feasts of various kinds and sharing how Jesus came to restore Israel to God.  Cathy spends hour upon hour studying God's Word so she can present it to any and all she meets along the way.  She is married to her devoted husband Bobby Wilson and Jarrod Wilson is her only child.  Since I've known her for many years I have a secret.....she is also a wonderful artist.  Her creative ways have been on hold for a few years because of her devotion to Christ.  Cathy, you are such a blessing!

Carol Barmore
Carol has expressed that Christ has impacted her life by constantly changing her.  He has given her peace and she sees the fruit of the Holy Spirit in her life.  She would love for God to use her to implement His plans.  Carol has been married to a wonderful man for 41 years.  She spends her spare time traveling and if she could go anywhere in the world it would be South Africa.  Carol also dreams of heaven where one day we all will spend time getting to know one another better.  Carol loves to read and she also spends time in prayer.

Patti Merritt
Patti chose to attend Cathy's prophecy class because she has been on a quest her entire life to understand Biblical Prophecy and she thought the class would help her.  Patti spends her spare time reading and watching political programs on television.  She is especially interested in religious books.  She has 2 grown daughters and 6 grandchildren.  If she could go anywhere in the world it would be Israel, Jordan and Egypt.  She would love to walk where Jesus walked.  He has carried her through so much.  She literally wouldn't be here if it weren't for Him.  She would like more direction for her life and courage to do God's will.
Patti has been an encouragement to me every week.  Thanks Patti!
